24 January 2012 - this blog has been abandoned and is therefore horribly out of date but I will leave it here for now for historic purposes!

A busy weekend ...

May 23, 2010
I made a heap of new things this weekend, some of which have been listed on my Artfire site at http://www.chantelmccabe.artfire.com. Still lagging behind with this blog though but I am off to try finish another competition piece ... Steampunk Alice in Wonderland!

Item 202 - Pink-eared duck necklace

May 16, 2010
I'm horribly behind with my blog. I have been making jewellery but I just have had a hard time trying to find time to update my blog. I've no idea if I am behind or ahead with my challenge. My guess would be ahead ...

Anyway, here's starting with the latest first: something I made today for the "Quack" Year of Jewellery challenge. I made this pink-eared duck out of polymer clay and added agate, crackled agate and onyx beads using gunmetal findings. I added a Czech leaf dangle.

Item 201 - Boho necklace

April 13, 2010

Here's my contribution to the bohemian theme ... a wild, spontaneous, colourful and carefree necklace made in a real bohemian flash of inspiration ... loads of handpainted cloissonné beads (to represent the arts), Czech beads (handmade, cottage industry Czech beads just seem appropriate) and tiny coin charms (to represent belly dancers, gypsies and other colourful characters) on a double-stranded brass chain necklace with a romantic double heart clasp ...

This necklace won the beadingforum.co...

April 7, 2010
Here are some Christi Friesen type dragon beads I've made this week ... pictured next to a 50c (AUD).

Items 174 to 198 - Belle of the Ball

April 7, 2010
Some more ... I actually have a few more items to post (at least 4 that I can think of) that somehow slipped through my photography net ... I'll do these another day.

Some high school ball inspired pieces ... there's no need to spend a fortune on sterling silver jewellery ... here are some affordable alternatives using mainly base metal with some sterling silver. All earwires are sterling silver.

Items 149 to 173

April 7, 2010

The earring rainbow continued ... this picture of the black earrings is insisting on being at the beginning of this posting! One pair of earrings counts as one item for purposes of this challenge.

A pic of the rainbow ...

Items 118 to 148

April 7, 2010
I made an earring rainbow for the last market: earring made out of every colour of the rainbow plus clear, black, pink and browns. I have already published the red earrings somewhere on this blog (I think!) so here are the rest. The pics aren't great as I was in production mode and in a rush.

Items 109 to 117

April 7, 2010
Next up, a bunch of gorgeous copper pendants on buna cord. No, I didn't make these pendants myself but I wish I did. I need to get back to my metalwork if I ever hope to get there!

Next a lapis lazuli and sterling silver necklace and earring set ...

A simple seed bead necklace with sterling silver clasp and findings ...

A simple, long  double black chain ...

Swarovski cosmic rings and goldfill chain and findings ...

Items 106 to 108 - wrap necklaces

April 7, 2010
Here are 3 wrap necklaces. Beads are threaded onto strong vinyl thread and knotted into place. Each necklace is made up of two such strands. They are worn by knotting them very loosely in front. They look very pretty on.

I made the first one using a Pantone colour scheme (well, loosely): hematite, olivine and calcite.

The next one has assorted gemstone beads ...

The last one is made of assorted Czech firepolished glass beads ... yum!

Items 103 to 105

April 7, 2010
Here's a bunch of shell pearl and CCB heart necklaces. The top one also has freshwater pearls at the ends.

The bottom one has a locket in the centre.
